If you've ever shopped at a place like Auto Zone or Staples you know what it's like to receive incentives for shopping there. I don't know about you, but for me it makes me want to shop there as often as I can. Whether it's a percentage off or dollars you can use at a later date, it's still worth it.
If you offer the type of business that allows you to offer discounts and such whenever you want, you should consider an awards program. This will encourage your frequent shoppers to continue to shop with you, but it will also encourage new shoppers to come to your business.
There are several ways you can do this depending on the amount of money you want to spend and how you want to work it.
If you have a shopping cart attached to your site, more then likely you'll have the ability to offer your frequent shoppers a discount code to use when they make their purchases. You can set it up to where everyone has the same code or you can create a new code for each person.
Another option you can use with the shopping cart would be to change the code each month. You can send it to your customers once they order and they can use it with their next order. Unless your shopping cart has the ability to allow the code to work once, you'll have to ask that they not share the code with anyone else.
If you don't have a shopping cart or you don't have the ability to create a discount code, you'll have to do things a little different. It will depend on how you work your site, but you still have a couple of options to choose from.
One way to do this would be to have your customers email you with their order. You would then either create a PayPal link for them to use specifically or you would send them an invoice for the discounted amount.
The other option you could do is create a PayPal button with the discounted amount and add them to a special page that you would send them to. Creating a page that is password protected is a good way to keep people from using the page that are just surfing and happen to run across your page.
Rewarding your customers is a good way to keep them coming back time and time again. You may think you're going to lose money and it's not worth it, but what you need to remember is your customers may purchase more due to the discount. They also may send other people to you since you offer a discount that nobody else offers.
